VANCOUVER Police are investigating the city’s ninth pedestrian fatality of 2022, after a woman was struck and killed on Monday evening in the Downtown Eastside.

At around 7:40 p.m. on Monday, October 10, a sedan was travelling west on Powell Street and a woman was struck crossing the street mid-block near Gore Street. She was rushed to hospital and later died.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

The VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is working to determine what caused the incident.
