Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Saturday’s hit-and-run in Surrey dead

SURREY RCMP announced on Monday that the pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Saturday, July 29 had died as a result of his injuries. Police renewed their plea for witnesses to come forward.

On July 29 at approximately 12:38 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian hit-and-run collision in the 8200-block of 128 Street. The pedestrian, a 31-year-old man, was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation team is working to identify the vehicle and driver that fled the scene. The vehicle is described as a blue sedan with front-end damage that was last seen northbound on 128 Street.

“Investigators know that there were multiple people on scene, some that may have witnessed the collision or arrived shortly after,” said Media Relations Officer Cpl. Vanessa Munn.  “Police are urging anyone who was there that night or who may have dash camera footage of the collision or suspect vehicle to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.”
