Peel Regional Police seize drugs and arrest 11 people in “Project Trident”

 

Mississauga – Investigators with the Major Drugs and Vice Unit concluded a three-month investigation which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drugs, and the arrest of 11 individuals from both Mississauga and Brampton, who collectively face a total of 44 charges.

The investigation dubbed “Project Trident” was initiated to combat street level drug trafficking in public complaint areas, as well as a focus on businesses identified through complaints with noted drug trafficking activity.

“Drug trafficking will be diligently combated by Peel Regional Police” states Inspector Graham Symington the Officer in Charge of the Major Drugs & Vice Unit. “The public has a right to be free and safe while conducting their daily routines without drug activity occurring in the various public areas of our community”.

The investigated targeted the following primary complaint areas:

  • Hurontario Street and Dundas Street, Mississauga
  • Hurontario Street and Church Street, Brampton

Seized during the investigation was a quantity of cocaine, crack cocaine, marihuana and heroin. All illicit drugs were offered for sale in the identified complaint areas.

As a result of the investigation the following persons have been charged with the following offences.

  1. Jermaine Bennett (age 31) of Mississauga

    Possession for the purpose of Trafficking X 1
  2. Daymion Newsome (age 34) of Mississauga
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 5
  3. Russell Lewis (age 37) of Mississauga
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 2
    Possession for the purpose of Trafficking X 1
  4. Anthony McCalla (age 27) of Mississauga)
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 3
  5. William Cawley (age 29) of Brampton
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 4
    Possession for the purpose of Trafficking X 1
  6. Tiago Botelho (age 30) of Brampton
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 5
    Possession for the purpose of Trafficking X 1
    Possession of Proceeds of Crime X 1
  7. Darrick Larocque (age 37) of Brampton
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 1
  8. Carlos Sumoza (age 22) of Brampton
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 6
    Possession for the purpose of Trafficking X 1
  9. Tytan Cancilla (age 19) of Brampton
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 1
  10. Kristoff Walker (age 26) of Brampton
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 2
  11. Kevin Larsen (age 50) of Brampton
    Trafficking of a Controlled Substance X 3
