DELTA Police are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect from an attempted arson that occurred just after 7 a.m. on Friday (December 22).
“Fortunately one of our police officers was conducting a routine patrol in the area, when he noticed a fire by a building in the 8300-block of Scott Road,” said Cris Leykauf, public affairs coordinator for Delta Police. “The officer called the fire department, and started evacuating residents right away.”
The building is comprised of 12 apartment units, located above a furniture store. All residents were safely evacuated, and thanks to the quick response of emergency services, there were no injuries, and the fire was quickly extinguished. Residents have since all been allowed to return to their suites.
It appears the fire was deliberately set by the exterior of the building. The damage seems to be isolated to the business and the exterior of the building, police said.
Police are now looking for possible witnesses and anyone who may be able to help identify the suspect, pictured here. Contact Delta Police at 604-946-4411. Or you can provide an anonymous tip by calling the Crime Stoppers 24/7 tip line at 1-800-222-8477.
