PREMIER David Eby on Wednesday in a statement celebrating Hola Mohalla said: “Communities throughout British Columbia and around the world are coming together to celebrate Hola Mohalla, the Sikh festival of faith, courage and community.
“During this vibrant three-day celebration, people gather for prayers, hymns, meals and thrilling demonstrations of Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art.
“Hola Mohalla is more than a festival – it’s a living expression of Sikh values: devotion, bravery and service to others.
“People of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to join local festivities, including partaking in delicious langar (meals) in gurdwaras, reflecting the Sikh spirit of generosity and inclusion.
“Hola Mohalla is also an opportunity to recognize the Sikh community’s enduring contributions to building a stronger, more inclusive British Columbia.
“I wish everyone observing Hola Mohalla a joyful and meaningful festival.”

CONSERVATIVE Leader Pierre Poilievre said: “Since Guru Gobind Singh Ji first established Hola Mohalla over three centuries ago, Sikhs have ushered in spring through skillful displays of athleticism perfected over generations and faithfully passed down to the future.
“Across Canada, this heritage will be on full display as festivals and parades feature the eternal message of hope, the promise that good will always prevail over evil and carry forward timeless values of courage.
“While feats of valour and endurance highlight time-honoured traditions, Sikhs will continue to carry out the spirit of Seva through giving to those in need throughout their communities and organizing communal Langars in gurdwaras throughout our country.
“As Sikhs from around the world mark the arrival of spring with tests of strength and resilience, Conservatives extend our best wishes to everyone celebrating here at home.
“Happy Hola Mohalla!”
