Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh appoints loyalists as advisors

Chandigarh (PTI): Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday appointed three of his loyalists, including close confidante BIS Chahal, as advisors.
Chahal has been appointed as Advisor to the Chief Minister in the rank of Minister of State, said an official spokesman. He was the media advisor to Amarinder when he was the chief minister from 2002 to 2007.
The Chief Minister also appointed retired Inspector General of Police Khubi Ram as his Security Advisor.
Senior journalist Raveen Thukral, who steered Amarinder’s media campaign in the recent assembly polls, has been appointed as Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, in the rank of Minister of State.
The state government also appointed Lieutenant General (retired) Tajinder Singh Shergill as Senior Advisor to the Chief Minister in the rank of Cabinet Minister.
A spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said former journalist Vimal Sumbly has been appointed as Secretary (Press) to Amarinder Singh.
Captain Sandeep Sandhu, Major Amardeep Singh and Karanpal Singh Sekhon have been appointed as Political Secretaries to the Punjab CM.
