EVERY year, on the first Sunday of September, the RCMP gathers to honour those who lost their lives in the line of duty during the RCMP National Memorial Service.
Sunday morning’s Memorial Parade brought hundreds together at the historic Sleigh Square at the RCMP Academy, Depot Division. Participating in the parade were cadets, RCMP officers from across the country, veterans, the RCMP Pipes and Drums, and the Cadet Band. Dignitaries, government officials, partner agencies, families, friends, and community members gathered to pay their respects and honour the fallen.
This year, no new names were added to the Honour Roll. The RCMP say they remain deeply grateful to the officers whose courage, service, and sacrifice continue to inspire. Their commitment to protecting Canadians will always be remembered.
“The RCMP National Memorial Service brings our RCMP family together to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Canadians. Their legacy lives on through the values they upheld, the communities they served and the people they inspired,” said RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme.
“Depot Division is honoured to host this annual service of remembrance. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of our fallen members while standing alongside their families, friends and colleagues,” said A/Commr. Mike Lokken, Commanding Officer, Depot Division.
