THERE are at least nine South Asians among the 29 new Peel Regional Police constables that were sworn in on Thursday at the Emil V. Kolb Centre for Police Excellence in Mississauga.
The new officers successfully completed 21 weeks of training which occurred at the Ontario Police College and the Peel Regional Police Training Bureau. Members in attendance from the Police Services Board included Chair Amrik Ahluwalia and Councillor Sue Mac Fadden.
Police Chief Jennifer Evans presented the officers with their badges.
Following the graduation, the constables are being assigned to training officers at operational divisions, where they will enter the final phase of their training.
