21-year-old UBC resident dead in early morning collision

A 21-year-old UBC resident is dead in Vancouver’s second fatal collision of 2018.

Vancouver Police Department are investigating the early morning single vehicle crash on Vancouver’s West Side. Just before 1 a.m. on Sunday (March 4), a white Mercedes sedan was travelling eastbound on West 16th Avenue at Discovery Street when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and crashed into a tree. The driver, the only occupant, died at the scene.

Officers from the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit are on scene and have closed West 16th Avenue between Trimble and Courtenay Streets while they conduct their investigation. Speed appears to have been a factor.
