Hundreds of first responders honour Richmond firefighter Capt. Donald Kongus

HUNDREDS of firefighters and other first responders from across Canada on Monday honoured Richmond firefighter Capt. Donald “Bryan” Kongus, 44, who died of work-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in August.

IAFF Local 1286 president Cory Parker told the media that it was important to recognize that Kongus “served the citizens of Richmond for 22-plus years and eventually the job was what killed him.”

The first responders marched through the streets of Richmond from 10851 Shellbridge Way and ended at Fraserview Church on Mellis Drive.
