Richmond RCMP investigating explosion

RICHMOND RCMP on Tuesday responded to a residence in the area of the 8000-block of No. 1 Road around 10:40 p.m. on January 30 for reports of possible gunfire.
No evidence was found to suggest shots were fired. However, damage was discovered that was consistent with the detonation of an improvised explosive device.
No one was reportedly injured. The occupants of the residence have been cooperative with police.
The Richmond RCMP General Investigative Section is investigating along with assistance from Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and the LMD Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU).
“The Richmond RCMP is still trying to determine the motive for this incident,” says Cpl. Dennis Hwang. “Luckily, no one was injured, but the possibility that someone could have been is cause for us to be concerned.”
