Richmond RCMP investigating reports involving local travel agency

RICHMOND RCMP say they have been receiving multiple complaints from members of the public alleging travel services were paid for but not received from Vegas Vacations Ltd., a travel agency operating out of Lansdowne Centre in Richmond.

Investigators are currently in the process of reviewing information to determine whether any criminal offences may have occurred.

“We know that many people are feeling understandably frustrated and distressed by the situation,” said Cpl. Kenneth Lau, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer, on Thursday. “We want to assure the community that we are taking these concerns seriously and that the investigation is ongoing. We ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation and encourage those affected to remain peaceful and respectful of private property as we work through this process.”

As a result of the information being received, the Richmond RCMP Economic Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation. Investigators have also been liaising with Consumer Protection BC, the provincial regulator for the travel industry, which is conducting its own investigation into the business.

Customers who had travel booked with Vegas Vacations can find information about their rights on the Consumer Protection BC website

To help gather and assess information, the Economic Crime Unit has created a dedicated email inbox for affected customers. If you previously booked travel with Vegas Vacations and believe you may have been defrauded, you are encouraged to email RichmondRCMPEC@rcmp-grc.gc.ca with your name and contact information, and a summary of your interactions with the business.
