RICHMOND RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in relation to a collision involving a pedestrian.
On Tuesday, December 3 shortly after 6:15 a.m., frontline officers received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the Steveston Highway off-ramp from Highway 99. The pedestrian was crossing at a marked crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle, and rushed to a local area hospital with serious injuries
Richmond RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) attended and has assumed conduct of the investigation, which is active and ongoing.
The driver remained on scene and has been cooperative with police.
“Drivers are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and anticipate pedestrians crossing at crosswalks,” said Cpl. Kenneth Lau. “Pedestrians are reminded to make eye contact with the driver and ensure they acknowledge your intent to cross.”
The CCIT is seeking witnesses or dash camera footage of the incident.
