Richmond RCMP seeking driver and vehicle involved in cyclist hit and run

SHORTLY before 10 p.m. on September 7, Richmond RCMP responded to the intersection of Francis Road and Gilbert Road for reports of a cyclist struck.

The cyclist, a 48-year old man from Richmond, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Wearing proper safety equipment was a factor in reducing injuries in this incident. The man has since been discharged.

The suspect vehicle is described as a blue SUV and was last seen driving away from the scene, eastbound on Francis Road.

“Police are investigating this collision as a hit and run. The blue SUV is likely to have sustained some damage consistent with colliding with a cyclist. We are asking anyone in the community to contact us if they have any information or dash cam footage regarding this incident. Even the smallest detail could greatly assist us,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang on Friday.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Constable K. Chung at 604-278-1212. Quote file: #2019-29583.
