Richmond RCMP seeking witnesses and video in pedestrian fatality

RICHMOND RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in a collision involving a pedestrian fatality.

On Sunday, November 1, at approximately 12:30 a.m., frontline officers received a report of a pedestrian struck by a pickup truck in the 8500-block of Cambie Road. The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since died in hospital.

Richmond RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) attended and has taken conduct of the investigation with assistance from the Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstructionist Services (ICARS).

The driver has been cooperative with police.

“Pedestrians are encouraged to use marked crosswalks when possible, and to make eye contact with the driver before crossing a road so they know to stop for you,” said Constable Kenneth Lau on Wednesday. “It is especially important now, with rainier days and longer nights affecting driver visibility.”

Richmond RCMP CCIT is seeking witnesses or dash camera footage of the incident. If you have any information, contact the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 or Richmond_CCIT@rcmp-grc.gc.ca , and if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca, quoting file number 2020-29866.
