Richmond RCMP trying to figure out what caused cyclist to crash

ON January 23 at approximately 5:30 p.m., a Richmond RCMP officer was flagged down by a good Samaritan on No. 5 Road just North of Williams Road. The good Samaritan was assisting a cyclist laying injured on the roadway.

The officer provided medical care until EHS arrived and transported the cyclist to a local area hospital.

Richmond RCMP obtained a statement from the cyclist who advised he had left his workplace and was riding northbound on No. 5 Road. He remembers attempting to pass an unoccupied parked car but has no further recollection of what occurred.

Richmond RCMP are working to determine what caused the cyclist to crash. They are seeking dash cam footage or witnesses who may have been in the area of No. 5 Road between Steveston Highway and Kingsbridge Drive between 5:10 p.m. and 5:40 p.m.
