Road closure remains in effect following collision on Highway 17 in Surrey (update)

SURREY RCMP continues to investigate a motor vehicle collision involving tractor-trailers where one person sustained serious injuries.

On July 16 at approximately 8:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a collision involving two tractor-trailers along Highway 17 and 116 Avenue.

One of the drivers, a 41-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in hospital.

The driver and passenger of the other tractor-trailer, a 44-year-old man and 64-year-old man, were also taken to hospital for further assessment and since have been released.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team has taken conduct of the investigation.  Circumstances of the collision have not yet been determined. Speed may have been a factor.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes on Highway 17 remain closed between Bridgeview Drive and the North Surrey Truck Parking.
