SURREY RCMP are advising the public of road closures along 152 Street while firefighters work to extinguish a grass fire.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Surrey RCMP was advised of a plane that caught fire in an ultra-light aviation field located in the 6900-block of 152 Street. One person was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
Police are currently on scene and the circumstances that lead to the fire are unclear at this time. The fire spread to the surrounding grass area and firefighters are actively working to extinguish it.
Police said 152 Street between 72 Avenue and 68 Avenue has been closed in both directions to all traffic. Police are requesting people to avoid the area and use alternate routes. It is unknown how long the closures will remain in effect.
