Rock Habib-Joumaa, 25, of North Vancouver shot dead

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is requesting public assistance to further its investigation in the shooting death of man from North Vancouver.

On December 25, at 8:12 p.m., North Vancouver RCMP responded to reports of a shooting in a parkade in the 600-block of Seylynn Crescent. Police and paramedics arrived and found 25-year-old Rock Habib-Joumaa of North Vancouver, with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at scene. Habib-Joumaa’s name is being released to assist in the investigation.

Habib-Joumaa was known to police, but did not have a criminal record. The investigation is at its earliest stages but information thus far indicates this was a targeted shooting. IHIT detectives are looking for two persons who were in and around that area and may be connected to the shooting.

IHIT did not comment on reports that a person was injured in the shooting and rushed to hospital.

IHIT is currently on scene and investigating with the assistance of the North Vancouver RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, and the BC Coroners Service.

IHIT detectives continue to gather forensic evidence, while canvassing for additional witnesses and video surveillance.

“This shooting violated the tranquility of the holidays. There are people out there who knew of Mr. Habib-Joumaa’s activities or have seen the two persons of interest,” sid Cpl. David Lee of IHIT. “We ask anyone with information, or video in the area of 600-block of Seylynn Crescent, to contact IHIT immediately.”
