BC Conservative Party Leader John Rustad on Tuesday announced that Ian Paton, MLA for Delta South, Peter Milobar, MLA for Kamloops-North Thompson (and now Conservative candidate in Kamloops Centre), and Trevor Halford, MLA for Surrey-White Rock, are joining his party as candidates for the upcoming election.
“I am thrilled to welcome Ian Paton, Peter Milobar, and Trevor Halford to our team,” said Rustad. “These MLAs have shown unwavering dedication to their communities and share our vision for restoring responsible, accountable governance in British Columbia. As we navigate a changing political landscape, it’s more important than ever to unite our efforts to provide a real alternative to the NDP’s mismanagement.”
Rustad emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among conservative leaders in light of recent shifts in BC’s political scene. “David Eby and the BC NDP have repeatedly failed British Columbians, from skyrocketing costs of living and healthcare shortcomings to rising crime and a lack of support for families and businesses. By bringing together strong conservative voices, we are building a united front ready to take on the NDP and restore common sense leadership to this province,” he said.
Paton said: “I want to thank all my constituents, family, friends, and supporters for your understanding over the past number of days. The many kind and supportive messages I have received deeply touched me and I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each of you who reached out. After careful thought and consideration, I have decided to run with the Conservative Party of BC in the next provincial election. I believe John Rustad and the Conservative team are best positioned to defeat David Eby and the NDP.”
Milobar said: “British Columbians deserve a government that listens and acts in their best interests. I am joining the Conservative Party of BC to ensure that our communities are heard, and that we stand together against the NDP’s harmful policies. It’s time for conservatives to unite and deliver the change this province desperately needs.”
Halford said: “The political landscape is evolving, and it’s crucial that we come together to challenge the NDP’s disastrous governance. I am proud to join the Conservative Party of BC and continue my work fighting for the people of Surrey-White Rock under a united conservative banner.”
