Shots fired at semi-trucks near Houston, Burns Lake, Vanderhoof, Clucuz Lake, Prince George, Quesnel, 100 Mile House

RCMP confirmed on Sunday that a suspect is in custody in relation to a series of vehicle shootings over an eight-hour period.
Semi-trucks were shot at while travelling along the highway near Houston, Burns Lake, Vanderhoof, Clucuz Lake, Prince George, Quesnel and 100 Mile House.

RCMP said: “During the course of the investigation, information was received that led police to believe the suspect vehicle was in the Lower Mainland, in the Chilliwack area.

“Police quickly acted on this information and have located the suspect vehicle and arrested an individual in connection with these shootings. This individual remains in custody. The investigation continues however there is no further risk to the public.”

On Saturday, RCMP had appealed for public assistance in locating the vehicle used by the suspect.

 

 

 

 

 

The suspect vehicle was identified as:
· 2009 Dodge Caliber
· 4-door
· Blue
· Described as “dirty”
· Ontario license plate: CAVM918
Between 8:30 p.m. on Friday March 24 and 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, North District OCC received numerous calls of a vehicle on Highway 97 shooting out radiators and windows of semi-tractor trailers while being operated.
RCMP determined that the suspect vehicle was last seen travelling southbound on Highway 97 at 93 Mile. There were no reported injuries.
Police urged all commercial truck drivers to inspect their vehicles and report any damage they feel was suspicious in nature to their local police department immediately.
