JASKARN Lally, 20, of Abbotsford was shot dead last Friday (March 24) in the 3500-block of Chase Street.

The Abbotsford Police Department received a report of the shooting just after 4:30 p.m.  and located a male at a residence. He was dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.  As the scene was deemed a homicide, the Integrated Homicide investigation Team (IHIT) was called and took conduct of the case.

IHIT said on Saturday that it remains early in the investigation, and investigators are still working to determine the motive.  However, it appears that Lally’s death was targeted.

IHIT is working in partnership with the Abbotsford Police Department and the BC Coroner’s Service.  A review of the evidence gathered so far indicates that the shooting occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., and a dark coloured Ford F150 fled the scene (see photograph). Investigators are continuing on Saturday with area canvassing, and are asking anyone with information about Lally’s death to contact police.

“Mr. Lally was known to police, and was associated to local gangs“, said IHIT Cpl. Meghan Foster.  “This outcome is another example of the risks associated with gang life, and those involved are not protected from the dangers of it.”

The media reported about court records that showed Lally had been deeply involved in the Townline Hill conflict. He was named in the civil forfeiture claim as an associate of Harwindip Singh Baringh, 18, who was killed in Abbotsford in October 2014 – allegedly involving a clash between the Chahil and Dhaliwal crime groups.

The Director of B.C. Civil Forfeiture in B.C. Supreme Court claimed two vehicles – a white Nissan Altima and a blue Nissan Altima – that were allegedly used in a shootout.

The court document claimed that Baringh was driving with a passenger in a Jeep Grand Cherokee that evening while his associates were following in a blue 2007 Altima. Surveillance cameras reportedly showed the Jeep and the blue Altima were following a white Acura and a white Altima.

The court document alleged that the occupants of the Jeep and blue Altima “were ambushed by occupants of the white Acura and the white Altima” at a turn.

Gunshots were exchanged between the occupants of the four vehicles and finally three of the vehicles took off, while the Jeep remained at the scene. Baringh’s body was found in the Jeep by the police.

One of Lally’s associates, Navdeep Sidhu, 24, who was with him during this incident, was found shot to death along with Harman Mangat, 22, in Southeast Edmonton on January 11.

Next month, on April 24, Lally was to be in a Dawson Creek courtroom to face six weapons offences that stemmed from the abduction of a man in Dawson Creek back in February 2015.

Media also reported that a man of the same name and age as Lally was facing several charges involving weapons and other violent offences.

It was also reported that Lally was also scheduled to appear in Abbotsford Court on April 14 on assault charges.
