SURREY Police Service (SPS) officers are investigating shots fired at a Surrey business complex that has resulted in property damage.

On Monday, July 21, shortly before 11 a.m., SPS was called to a business located in the 8100-block of 128 Street for a report of damage to the exterior of their business that was first discovered by staff at approximately 1 a.m.

Upon police arrival it was confirmed that the damage was likely made from gunshots. There were no reports of any injuries related to the property or surrounding properties. It is unknown if the business damaged was the intended target or when the shots were fired.

CTV reported that the damage was to The Royal King Palace whose owner told it that the shooting occurred after a fight broke out during a wedding reception. He said the incident had nothing to do with extortion attempts against South Asian businesses.

However, police have not commented on that claim.
