Sikhs of Calgary will serve hundreds as part of the world’s first Empathy Week

At the breakfast served last Friday in Calgary.

THE Sikhs of Calgary will serve over 700 members of the community as part of the  2nd Empathy Week (the first one was held last year).

Sikh educational organization Basics of Sikhi will be serving meals to the local community to highlight how empathy is an integral part of the Sikh faith, shown through the practice of langar. Langar translates as communal kitchen and refers to the free vegetarian food service that can be found in every single gurdwara in the world and often on the streets too.

On Monday they are providing dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, they are providing lunch from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Alex Community Food Centre.
