SURREY RCMP has now identified the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal pedestrian hit and run collision that occurred early Thursday morning and would like to thank the members of the public for their assistance in providing numerous tips to investigators.
Sources told The VOICE the driver is South Asian.
While officers have identified the driver as a 31-year-old male from Surrey, investigators have still not located this individual and are appealing for him to come forward to police.
“No matter what your reason was for not stopping, it is always better to come forward and speak with us now as opposed to us tracking you down later,” says Surrey RCMP Sgt Dale Carr.
Officers have determined that the trailer unit (TransX) and the semi-truck cab are from two different companies. The driver being sought by police is employed by the company who owns the semi-truck cab.
The victim has also been identified as a 55-year-old male of no fixed address. The victim’s family has been notified, however, police say they respect their need for privacy and will not be releasing his name.
Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) continues to collect physical evidence and speak with numerous people to advance their investigation. Criminal charges have not yet been recommended in this matter.
