South Surrey-White Rock nominations open for Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medallion

QUEEN Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee is an opportunity “to recognize the community contributions and individual achievements” of people in South Surrey and White Rock who are making our community better, said South Surrey-White Rock MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay on Monday.

“For 70 years, Her Majesty has been an unwavering example of service and the jubilee is an opportunity to reach out and honour those South Surrey and White Rock residents who exemplify that same sort of commitment. We are celebrating those who make our community better, while we pay tribute to the lifetime of work and commitment of the Queen. MP Findlay commissioned the Platinum Jubilee Medallions as a practical and appropriate way to mark this incredible jubilee milestone. I cannot think of another person who is still on the job after 70 years, and her devotion to duty speaks volumes about Queen Elizabeth,” she noted.

Findlay said nomination details and application forms are available at: www.klfindlay.com with nominations required by May 20.

“I have put together a selection panel who will help me identify the Jubilee Medallion recipients in South Surrey-White Rock,” she said. “We will be looking for individuals who have made contributions in any number of fields, including community service, business, arts and culture, sports, education, and volunteerism. In short, we’re looking to honour those who make us better as Canadians.”

The names of the Jubilee Medallion recipients will be announced by June 13 and a recognition ceremony will be hosted by Findlay on June 30.
