THE BC Lions dropped their Week 2 CFL matchup 34-20 to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on the road. QB Nathan Rourke showed flashes with 249 yards passing and a 63-yard touchdown, but left late due to an oblique injury. Backup RB Matthew Peterson powered the Bombers with 130 rushing yards and a touchdown. Despite the loss, Lions coach Buck Pierce remains optimistic about the team’s resilience as they prepare for a home rematch Saturday, June 21 Save on Foods Field at BC Place.
Quick Notes:
- Nathan Rourke (QB): Did not practice Tuesday and Wednesday due to an oblique injury sustained last week against Winnipeg. He’s considered day-to-day, but his agent expects the team to be cautious and sit him for the rematch. Rourke expressed disappointment, wanting to rebound after a subpar performance (12/27, 249 yards) and an 0-5 career record vs. the Bombers.
- Jeremiah Masoli: Expected to start if Rourke is unavailable.
- Line of Scrimmage Focus: The Lions aim to improve play on both offensive and defensive lines after struggling in Winnipeg.
