Stranger sexual assault in Newton’s Bear Creek area

SURREY RCMP on Saturday advised the public of a stranger sexual assault in the Bear Creek area of Newton and are asking the public for information.

On July 20 at 3:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a stranger sexual assault in the 14100-block of 91 Avenue. The victim reported that she was woken up by a man groping her in her residence. The victim screamed for help and the suspect fled.

Frontline officers and the LMD Integrated Police Dog Service Unit responded and conducted the initial investigation and patrols for the suspect. The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has now taken conduct and is continuing with CCTV canvassing in the area. The victim is being supported by the Surrey RCMP Victim Services.

The suspect is described as a South Asian man in his early 20s, 5’7” to 5’10” tall, average build, with a long black beard.

Police are looking for anyone who may have seen or has information regarding the suspect, specifically between the hours of 11 p.m. on July 19 to 3:30 a.m. on July 20.
