THE Surrey Board of Trade on Tuesday announced the finalists for the 18th Annual Police Officer of the Year Awards. Winners in eight categories will be announced at the gala event taking place on Thursday, October 9 at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel (15269-104 Avenue) in Surrey from 6-9:30 p.m.
The Surrey RCMP along with Surrey’s auxiliary officers, civilian employees and volunteers will join members of Surrey’s business community to celebrate those individuals who have been chosen by their peers and the public to receive the Police Officer of the Year Awards. Over 70 nominations were received. The nominees were judged in the areas of: innovation, commitment, contribution and perseverance.
The program begins at 7 p.m. with Master of Ceremonies, Mark Madryga of GlobalTV, with keynote speaker, Bob Lenarduzzi of the Vancouver Whitecaps, and award presentations to follow at 8:15 p.m. The event continues to support the RCMP Youth Academy.
