Surrey NDP candidates kick off campaign

HEADLINES SURREY-NDP-BURMASHAVEFEDERAL NDP candidates Garry Begg (Fleetwood-Port Kells), Jinny Sims (Surrey Newton) and Jasbir Sandhu (Surrey Centre) joined constituents early Wednesday morning in front of the Surrey Arts Centre to kick off their election campaign.

Many volunteers joined the candidates at 7:30 a.m. to show their support for NDP Leader Tom Mulcair and the New Democrats.

“Stephen Harper’s government is out of touch with Canadians, including people living in Surrey,” said Begg. “Our plan is to focus on helping local businesses grow and create jobs for the middle class.”

Begg, a former senior RCMP officer with 38 years experience on the force stated, “I have seen the rise in crime in Surrey and will work alongside the RCMP to address this pressing issue. The Conservatives have been silent on issues that matter to the people of Surrey, including rising crime rates and gang violence. The NDP is the voice of change that the people of Surrey need.”
