Surrey RCMP ask for public’s help to identify suspicious man

SURREY RCMP are requesting the public’s help to identify the suspect in a suspicious circumstance that occurred in Guildford.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on April 21, three young girls were walking home from Riverdale Elementary School when a suspicious man started following them. The girls walked from the school to Holly Park on 148 Street, and when the man continued to follow them, they went into a nearby grocery store for help. The man left the area when the girls went into the store.

This incident was reported to Surrey RCMP on April 22. Investigators are releasing a description of the suspect and asking anyone with information to call Surrey RCMP.

The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man, in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 5’10”, with black messy hair, a moustache and dark stubble. He was wearing blue jeans, black hoody and red shoes. The male was also seen carrying a blue-coloured portable speaker.

“In this case, these girls did the right thing,” said Constable Sarbjit Sangha, Surrey RCMP Media Relations. “If you suspect you are being followed, go to a safe place, or approach other people in the area and call police for help.”

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502. If you wish to make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
