SURREY RCMP are continuing their partnership with the Surrey School District to host this year’s 29th Annual Surrey RCMP Basketball Classic.
This tournament is one of the largest in BC and is the largest RCMP-sponsored tournament in the country. The Surrey RCMP Basketball Classic not only assists student athletes secure scholarships for their future academic and athletic aspirations, but also provides a great opportunity for the community to come together through sport.
“This tournament is the perfect opportunity to build camaraderie, sportsmanship, and tradition with Surrey youth,” says Superintendent Shawn Gill, Surrey RCMP Community Services Officer. “Events like the Basketball Classic enable young people to engage with and take pride in their community – whether that is playing; volunteering; or cheering on their school team. We look forward to seeing you all at the games.”
“It is that time of year again in Surrey – we are very excited to be presenting the 29th annual RCMP Basketball Classic. Thank you to the Surrey RCMP, Surrey School District as well as the public and private sponsors who continue to support the tournament and scholarship component,” says Kevin De Boice, Tamanawis Secondary Principal and co-chair of the Classic. “We have added some junior teams this year – there are now 24 teams in both the senior and junior categories. More involvement is always better and we truly hope that the families will experience firsthand the excitement of the Classic while supporting our youth.”
