SURREY RCMP are investigating an arson to a vehicle in Newton on Friday morning.

On January 26 at approximately 7:55 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of vehicle fire in the area of 8400-block of 134B Street. Surrey Fire Services was able to extinguish the fire, which had also spread to the garage door of the residence.

The occupants of the residence were safely evacuated and thankfully, no one was injured. The investigation is in its early stages, and police are canvassing the area for CCTV footage and witness statements. The fire appears to have been intentionally set, and police are working to determine the motive.
