Surrey RCMP release sketches of suspects involved in theft of vehicle and child abduction

SURREY RCMP are releasing sketches of two suspects involved in stealing a vehicle with a baby inside and asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the men.

On November 9, at 8:35 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle stolen with a baby inside. The vehicle had been left with its engine running in the driveway of a residence in the 17200-block of 58 Avenue in Cloverdale.

Surrey RCMP immediately deployed multiple resources and an Amber alert was also issued.

At 9:20 a.m., a bystander located the vehicle abandoned with the baby still inside it in the 5900-block of 177B Street. The baby was checked over by BC Emergency Health Services and was not physically injured.

Investigators have determined that there were two male suspects involved, one who stole the vehicle with the baby and a second suspect who was driving a secondary vehicle. The secondary vehicle was a black Mercedes SUV.

Suspect 1 is described as a white male, heavy-set build, late 30’s, short hair, and stubble on face. He was wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt.

Suspect 2

Suspect 2 is a white male, skinny build, late 30’s to early 40’s, bald, and missing a tooth. He was wearing a grey sweat suit.

In addition to the composite sketches, Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit is releasing photographs of two possible witness vehicles that were in the area of the residence where the vehicle was stolen from around the time of the incident.
