Surrey RCMP request dash-cam video in connection to last weekend’s shooting in Newton

SURREY RCMP are asking the public for dash-cam video to assist in the ongoing investigation of a shooting that occurred inside a residence in the 5800-block of 129th Street on October 3.

Investigators are requesting dash-cam video from anyone who was in the area of the shooting during the evening of October 2 and the early morning hours of October 3.  Anyone who has video is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at (604) 599 0502.

At approximately 2:55 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, Surrey RCMP frontline officers responded to a break and enter and shooting in that block. Officers located a 67-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to the hospital.

The suspect fled the residence prior to police arrival. He is described as tall and skinny and was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

The victim remains in the hospital in critical, but stable condition. The investigation is continuing to determine if he was the intended target of the shooting.

“We understand the public is anxious to learn more about this shooting and if the victim was intentionally targeted,” said Cpl. Elenore Sturko, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer. “Our officers are gathering information that will help us to make that determination, and we will provide an update as soon as we can.”
