THE Surrey RCMP Special Victims Unit is looking for information from the public related to an on-going sexual assault investigation.
The investigation began on March 12 after police received information about a sexual assault that occurred in February. Further investigation put investigators in contact with three additional victims related to incidents that took place between June 2019 and February 12, 2021.
On March 19, a male suspect was arrested. However, investigators believe there may be further victims in the community who have not yet come forward. Further information is being released to advance their investigation.
The victims, who have thus far been men, were sexually assaulted after being befriended by a man associated to a beige sedan. The sexual assaults took place after the victims entered the man’s car to smoke with him.
The suspect is described as a black male, in his 30’s, approximately 6 feet tall, with brown eyes, and very short black hair with a receding hairline, and moustache. The man’s vehicle was described as a light brown or beige, four-door sedan.
“People can often feel hesitant to come forward with information related to sexual assault,” said Cpl. Paula Forbes of the Surrey RCMP Special Victims Unit, on Monday. “We want to assure people in our community that we have services in place that can support you through the process.”
