SURREY Police Service (SPS) announced on Friday that the person who was the subject of a public appeal in an alleged sexual assault that occurred on June 6 has now been identified by police. Link to previous news release: Police Seeking Help to Identify Sex Assault Suspect | Surrey Police
A suspect has been arrested and is in custody, police said.
On Saturday, June 6 at approximately 7 p.m., SPS frontline officers responded to a report of a stranger sexual assault where a teenaged female victim reported that she was sexually assaulted at approximately 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 188 Street and 70 Avenue.
The suspect allegedly approached the victim from behind and assaulted her. The victim was able to flee and run to safety.
