SURREY RCMP said on Friday that two seats from the custom bicycle which was stolen on September 18 have been recovered, but the electric bicycle is still missing.
On September 17, the Surrey RCMP Youth Unit responded to a report of a bike stolen in the 8800-block of 162 Street.
A father reported that on Monday, September 16 at 11:45 a.m., he parked and secured the bike while he went into a nearby school to pick up his daughter and when he came back within 15 minutes, the bike was stolen.
The father advised that his daughter has complex health needs that requires her to move from one place to another utilizing the custom-made additions to this bike. The bike was described as a Sage green Eventin Abound Cargo E-Bike with two child seats attached.
CCTV footage was obtained from the area which shows a man cutting the lock off the bike and riding it away. The suspect was wearing a grey and maroon long sleeve shirt, dark pants, a baseball cap and sun glasses.
The bike is described as a sage green Eventin Abound Cargo E-Bike.
On September 20, a good Samaritan found the two bike seats left on a trail in the area of the 16000-block of 95A Avenue and called police after having seen the story featured on the news. The investigation is ongoing to locate the bike.
“We are extremely grateful to this good Samaritan who found the two seats and returned it to the police,” says Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Media Relations Officer for Surrey RCMP. “We are asking the community to continue looking out for this specific bicycle.”
The bike seats will be returned to the family in the coming days. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-139199.
