Surrey to host 2023 Canadian Men’s and Master Men’s Fastpitch National Championships

THE City of Surrey, in partnership with the Canadian Amateur Sport Society, has been announced as the host of the 2023 Canadian Men’s and Master Men’s Fastpitch National Championships, one of the largest tournaments in the sport of Canadian softball.

The tournament will take place at Softball City from August 30 to September 3, 2023, and will welcome over 20 teams, 250 athletes as well as thousands of fans from across Canada.

“Surrey is establishing ourselves as a premier sport tourism destination in the Pacific Northwest and Canada. We look forward to welcoming athletes and fans from across the country to our world-class facility for this exciting event,” said Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum.

“As British Columbia’s second largest and fastest growing city, Surrey is the premier place for hosting sporting events and is the Tournament Capital of the Lower Mainland.”

Lisa Parkes, Softball BC interim President, said: “Softball BC is thrilled that the Canadian Champions will be hosted in Surrey, providing us the opportunity to showcase our exceptional athletes and to expose our great game to the next era of athletes.”
She added: “The event will celebrate the deep history of men’s softball in BC, which includes three players currently on the national team, and will provide an opportunity to continue that legacy in building a solid boy’s program for the future.”

The Sport Tourism Strategy has been developed to advance the City of Surrey as a leader in the sport tourism industry, maximizing both economic benefits and sport development opportunities.
