VANCOUVER Police are investigating the stabbing death of a woman in Gastown on Sunday, July 13.

VPD officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, reporting that a woman had been stabbed near Carrall Street and Water Street. First responders provided medical aid at the scene, however, the victim later died at hospital.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Ivy Michelle Bell of Surrey.

A 31-year-old man was arrested by VPD and has since been released pending completion of the investigation.

Police believe the victim and suspect knew each other.
