FOLLOWING his arrest by Metro Vancouver Transit Police officers, a suspect has now been charged in an armed robbery that took place in Vancouver last month.

On March 26 at approximately 7:20 p.m., Transit Police responded to a broadcast made by Vancouver Police about a robbery where a store employee had been threatened with a knife near Granville SkyTrain Station. Officers quickly located the suspect and attempted to take him into custody. He fled, and then resisted arrest when apprehended, injuring one of the police officers in the process.

Jake Rupert Daniels, 41, of Vancouver has been charged with robbery, obstruction, and failure to comply with a probation order by the BC Prosecution Service. He has been released from custody with court-imposed conditions.

“Transit Police officers were nearby and able to intervene immediately. The officer who was injured during this incident was assessed at the hospital by medical staff, and is still off work. We are grateful that no members of the public were injured,” said Constable Sunny Kainth.
