M ETRO Vancouver Transit Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident took place near the Joyce Skytrain Station.

On Wednesday, May 6 at 7:45 p.m., Metro Vancouver Transit Police received a report of a male with a weapon, uttering threats near Joyce Skytrain Station.

Transit Police members located the male inside the station. During the interaction police used less lethal force options. The male attempted to leave the scene via the SkyTrain track area before falling to the ground below, after which he was taken into custody.

BC Emergency Health Services attended and the male was transported to local hospital with serious injuries.

Transit Police immediately notified the Independent Investigations Office of BC of the incident and say they are unable to provide additional information while the IIO’s independent process is taking place.
