UPDATE 5:30 p.m.:

“All lanes on the Queensborough Bridge are now open.”

ON Friday, May 8 at approximately 2 p.m., New Westminster Police officers were called to assist New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services with traffic control after a vehicle caught fire on the Queenborough Bridge.

Crews are working to clear fuel and debris on the bridge, however, it is anticipated the southbound lanes of the Queensborough Bridge will remain closed for several hours.

Commuters are asked to find an alternate route. Pedestrian and cyclist access to the bridge has been maintained.
