A suspect has been charged following a Vancouver Police investigation into the random and unprovoked assault of a senior last week.
The victim, 70, was walking near Homer Street and West Pender Street around 3 p.m on Friday, May 16 when a stranger approached and allegedly knocked him to the ground, causing the senior to strike his head.
The suspect walked away without offering assistance to the injured victim, who required treatment in hospital.
The VPD investigation led to the arrest of a suspect, who was taken into custody later the same day on Granville Street.
Derrick James McFeeters, 40, has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
