Suspect in arson investigation in Coquitlam has been arrested

COQUITLAM RCMP announced on Sunday that the 57-year-old arson suspect from Friday, October 7 has been arrested.

Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers attended a Port Coquitlam residence after receiving a report that the suspect was at this location on October 8. The suspect was located and arrested without incident.

Coquitlam RCMP Victim Services has been engaged to support those impacted by this incident.

“We would like to thank the public for their assistance in helping locate this suspect,” said Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. “This was a disturbing and potentially fatal incident that occurred in our community, and we are thankful to all who assisted in ensuring the suspect was arrested.”

Coquitlam RCMP said their investigators are working diligently to determine the complete circumstances of this incident and the suspect’s alleged involvement before recommending charges to BC Prosecution Services.
