Suspect in custody after driving through border crossing

ON Sunday, January 5 at approximately 8:45 a.m., RCMP Surrey Provincial Operational Support Unit (SPOSU) and Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers were advised by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) staff that a white pickup truck with Washington state plates had driven north through the Pacific Highway Border Crossing without stopping.

Officers attempted to locate the vehicle in the area.  A few minutes later, the vehicle was observed travelling northbound on King George Boulevard driving erratically and near 64 Avenue driving into oncoming traffic.

SPS officers then successfully stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was the lone occupant of the pickup truck.  Although vehicles were damaged, there were no injuries to the officers, the suspect or other drivers on the road.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.

Anyone with information, including any video footage of the incident, is requested to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-806 (SU) or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca if they wish to remain anonymous.
