SURREY RCMP said on Thursday that a suspect has been charged and taken into custody for an arson that occurred in June.
On June 20 at 5:30 p.m., police responded to a structure fire in the 8200-block of King George Boulevard. When police arrived on scene, a unit in the housing complex was fully engulfed in flames.
The investigation was conducted by the Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit (GIU). On June 28, Steven Evans of Surrey was charged with two counts of arson to property and one count of uttering threats. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
After extensive search efforts, the GIU located the accused on July 12. He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
