METRO Vancouver Transit Police are currently investigating an increase in vandalism to bus shelters across several municipalities including Burnaby, New Westminster, and Surrey.

On February 2, Transit Police were notified by Coast Mountain Bus Company that a number of bus shelters had been vandalized along 152 Street, between 26 Avenue and 86 Avenue in Surrey. Fourteen bus shelters were located with their glass shattered by what is believed to be a small projectile.

Since that time, Transit Police’s Investigative Units have identified similar vandalism in municipalities throughout Metro Vancouver. To date, three dozen bus shelters have been identified that share similar patterns of vandalism.

Police are asking anyone with information or video footage of the incidents to come forward and speak with investigators by calling 604-515-8300 or texting 87.77.77. Alternately, anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or online at solvecrime.ca
