THE Globe and Mail reports that on Tuesday U.S. President Joe Biden pulled Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi together for a discussion during the G20 summit in Brazil. There was no information about what they might have talked about.

The newspaper also reported that Trudeau told the media that he had spoken to Indian officials about their country’s foreign interference in Canada, especially in connection with the pro-Khalistan movement, saying: “In terms of engaging with the Indians, my priority is always to be standing up for Canadians’ safety and that is certainly the tenor of the conversations that I had.”

Meanwhile, The Globe and Mail in its story titled, “Canada’s security agencies suspect Modi knew of plot to kill Sikh activist,” reported that the Privy Council Office said in a statement Tuesday that there “have been no allegations made by the Government of Canada against Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, or National Security Advisor Doval.”

MEANWHILE, in Canada, members of the Sikh Caucus met with Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc who posted a photo of their get-together on Wednesday on X with the comment: “Great to hear from Sikh caucus colleagues yesterday evening. At a time of increased tensions, we all agree – we must remain united and place our trust in those tasked with keeping us safe.”

IN another development, federal Transport Minister Anita Anand has said in a statement that out of an abundance of caution, security measures for people travelling to India will be increased.

Transport Canada has implemented temporary additional security screening measures. Passengers may experience some screening delays while these measures are in place, the CBC reported.
