TWO weeks after two shootings in the same neighbourhood, Richmond RCMP on Tuesday finally notified the media about them.
Richmond RCMP said they are investigating reports of gunfire being heard in the 6300-residential block of Chelmsford Street. The first incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on August 27, and the second on August 29 at around 10:45 p.m.
A vehicle, house and garage were discovered to have sustained gunfire.
“This area is densely populated by families and community members. People walk, run, ride their bikes, and simply carry on their daily lives. Having two incidents of gunfire in the same area is a major concern and significant resources are being dedicated to locate the person or persons responsible. The incidents appear targeted and this investigation is a priority for the Richmond RCMP,” said Staff-Sgt. Gene Hsieh, NCO i/c Richmond Major Crime Unit.
“These priority investigations are being actively investigated by our General Investigation Section. There is additional police presence in the area,” police said.
Anyone with more information on these incidents or dashcam footage is urged to contact the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
